Gift Vouchers… The preferred Wedding Gift!

First Direct have recently completed a survey which confirmed the most desirable wedding gifts are gift vouchers and money. They surveyed a total of 1,924 couples and found that 35% would prefer gift vouchers or cash, with 22% preferring items listed on their wedding list. Only 19% of couples wanted their guests to choose something without any direction with the same percentage asking for no gifts at all. 3% admitted that the wedding gift they most desired was for their guests to donate to a charity special to them.

An interesting fact….  When Wayne and Coleen Rooney got married in 2008. They asked wedding guests to donate to a charity close to their hearts, Claire House Hospice, instead of giving wedding gifts. Despite flying their guests all the way to Italy at a rumoured £5 million, only a handful of guests actually made a donation.
The hospice Chairman Dennis Mahony admitted to the press eight months after the event that the charity had only received £2000 in total – with only four of the sixty four guests donating any money.
